Speed Trip to BC

On my first trip to BC I learned one thing.  10 days is not enough.  There are more rivers in BC than I could possibly paddle in a lifetime.  I had a great crew of people to paddle with, great water, and a ton of fun.

The Speeder Wins Again

This weekend was the Deerfield River Festival.  They tried a new event this year.  It was well organized by Zoar Outdoor Center’s Fergus Coffey.  The competition was a mass start down the Deerfield River, a run up the steep take-out hill, and a 8 mile bike ride.  The course was short, I figured it would …

Black River Festival 2007

I am just now recovering from an epic weekend on the Black River in Watetown, NY.  There was a more casual competitive atmosphere than many other festivals, but there was no lack of quality kayaking and good times.

Racing the Speeder

After months of waiting I finally got a chance to race the Speeder.  The event was the second annual Schroon River Scramble.  It’s a small local event that is held in Warrensburg, NY.  The course is a 3/4 mile sprint through some really fun class III.  In 2006 I got second place.

Another Stellar Weekend in Northern New York

With the World Cup of Freestyle Kayaking making a stop in Watertown, New York there was a lot going on, and a lot of new people in town.  Everyone seemed to be enjoying all that the great city of Watertown has to offer.  The world Cup seemed like a great event and a great idea, but I’ll let Jeremy …

Fall in Northern New York

Fall is my favorite season in New York.  Every weekend in September and October there is a great class IV/V dam controlled river to paddle on (thanks Chris Koll, Pete Skinner, and American Whitewater).  I kicked off the fall dam release season with runs on the Raquette River and Moshier section of the Beaver.  Saturday I found myself …
