Low Water Creeking in Scotland Pt. 1

I’ve just got back from a very, very low water trip to Scotland with fellow Team Pyranha paddler Richard Brooks and a few friends. Who said there wasn’t much to do in Scotland at low flows…..?

Small Recoil Spring Break

Spring is here and its time to play! I just got the new small Pyranha Recoil and I have been dying to try it out. Its been very dry around here in North Carolina, but I kept looking at the rising water levels in West Virginia and decided it was time for Spring Break. Its usually drysuits and ice in the eddies this time of year in West Virginia, but instead we were greeted with warm spring temperatures and sunny skies too! Yes, it was paradise–surfing big water, warm temperatures, sunny skies, and cold beer!! This may have been the best spring break of my life!

flying High…

speeding down the wave!

The new Speeder has been out for a few weeks now, but due to the high water we’ve had down here in the south i’ve not really had the chance to give it a good play.  Today I awoke to lower water levels and snow! so it seemed a good idea to go for a spin.  The Speeder has primarily been designed for fast  down river touring, but it can do so much more.  This is a really good fun boat, super fast but so easy to control, fitted out with full connect 30, so it mega comfy too! If you need a boat to get out and enjoy any river in any water condition and do any thing.  The Speeder could well be the one for you….

Floodwater in Wet Wales – UK!

Flood waterOn a Mission! – South Wales – Melte River – flood conditions!

After making a vague plan Saturday night, the boats where loaded and we were on our way to wet Wales in search of water! We suspected there may be water around, but at the take out of the Melte river the flows were not that high. It was pishing down and motivation took some time to pick up. I pulled an Ammo from my quiver, thinking this would be a mellow read a run, but on the drive up there was evidence to suggest this could turn into quite a mission!

Paddling out of the country is always an adventure, and this trip was no exception. Chiapas has a reputation for being a little dangerous and we found out why.

Black forest weekend

PrägbachSince my last post, some kind of winter did come by, we had a few good days in the snow, but i never stopped dreaming of paddling.
This weekend was rainy and warm again, so i called up two friends, ron and luc, and quickly we decided to head to marco schlink in freiburg, and go paddle in the black forest, where rivers generally only get water in wintertime.
I was specially excited, because it would be my first time in my AMMO S. Read the rest of this entry »

Last Mexico Trip Reports from Jan ’07

Sorry for the delay – we’ve been super busy with marketing our yoga products and putting together a fly fishing guidebook. It’s not all fun and games – we have to make money so that we can keep on boating and traveling!

Part 3 of the trip report contains fun river running and playboating action in the Recoil and Ammo.

Part 4 has some remote wilderness boating back in our Burns.
