Spring in Northern Vermont has finally arrived!!

Spring in Northern New England brings together a lot of great things.  The obvious benefit of spring for paddlers is the warmer weather melting snow (this winter we had a lot of it!) and transforming the rivers from picturesque ice sculptures back into the whitewater playgrounds we cherish.  It just so happens that this same …

Team Pyranha at Adirondack Paddlefest

Each Spring the entire paddlesports industry (or at least it feels like it anyway) descends on the small town of Old Forge, New York for a weekend full of all things paddling.  The event is Mountain Man Outdoor Supply Company’s Adirondack Paddlefest.  Myself and fellow Team Pyranha paddler Tony Gianfagna held down the fort for …

Deerfield River Festival

The Deerfield River Festival is always a highlight of my summer paddling season.  One of my first whitewater paddling experiences occurred on the Deerfield River back in 1995, and it is always a special place for me to return to.  The annual gathering of paddlers in Charlemont, Mass. each summer is a significant fundraiser for …

Checking in from the Northeastern U.S.

It would be too easy to simply say the last few weeks of paddling in the Northeastern U.S. (as well as the entire East Coast) has been awesome!!  To say that it has been special, or unique would be a good start, but still far from doing justice to the absolutely incredible summertime paddling conditions …

This Year I finally had the great pleasure of participating in the annual New Haven River Race near Bristol, Vermont.  While I’ve been make the commute across Lake Champlain from New York to paddle the New Haven “Ledges” section for several years, this was the first chance I’ve had to make it to the race …
