It’s been a couple of years since I’ve spent any real quality time with the crew over on the Black River, in Waterown, New York.\u00c2\u00a0 I showed up on Friday evening to what turned to be part reunion, part summer kick-off party, and part revival.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

The freestyle session at hole brothers on Friday night was amazing.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve never seen so many smiling faces in such a crowded eddy before.\u00c2\u00a0 The conditions could not have been better; beautiful weather\u00c2\u00a0(something you learn to appreciate in northern New York),a\u00c2\u00a0perfect level for the hole, 15 Pyranha boats in the eddy, beautiful spectators, and did I mention there is a bar on the banks of the river here.\u00c2\u00a0 heaven you say?…maybe.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

The party turned to the stoop at Hudson River Rafting Company\u00c2\u00a0as soon as the sun went down, and didn’t stop until pretty late.\u00c2\u00a0 In the morning\u00c2\u00a0 I looped and blunted the cobwebs out of my head a little after the sun came up.\u00c2\u00a0 I even came out of raft guiding retirement for the first time in two years.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

I almost forgot how much the Black River rules!!! There is a great group of people over there, an amazing river, and pretty much the most convenient place to go kayaking ever.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
