It has certainly been a spring to remember in the Northeastern U.S.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

The combination of\u00c2\u00a0plentiful snow late in the season and freakishly intense\u00c2\u00a0April thunderstorms brought some local river systems to record high flows.\u00c2\u00a0 Old-timers in the Adirondacks saay they have NEVER seen this kind of local flooding.\u00c2\u00a0 There has been major devastation to infrastructre and people’s homes, but also some great paddling.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

We’ve gotten the goods all over New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire.\u00c2\u00a0 the highlight for me was finally getting to paddle the Sawyer River in New Hampshire.\u00c2\u00a0 White Mountains\u00c2\u00a0legend and Guide-Book author, Greg Hanlon named his son after this river, and I found it to be quite worthy.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tony G, Danny\u00c2\u00a0and Phil\u00c2\u00a0have been\u00c2\u00a0 holding it down in the\u00c2\u00a0Western Adirondacks where bigger rivers like the Grass, and Oswegatchie have been running for a month straight.\u00c2\u00a0 They’ve been firing up some of New York’s biggest rapids at stout flows.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

The snow is finally all meted from my front yard, the grass is starting to look greener, and the rivers are starting to get a little low.\u00c2\u00a0 This just means one thing…TIME TO GO TO CANADA!!!<\/p>\n
