Another\u00c2\u00a0paddling season is comming to an end in the province of Quebec. A long winter awaits us! But before\u00c2\u00a0solid water falls from the sky, here are a\u00c2\u00a0few\u00c2\u00a0of the good moments of my 2006 season.<\/p>\n

It started off in April when\u00c2\u00a0I left the snowy\u00c2\u00a0Montreal with a few friends to head\u00c2\u00a0down\u00c2\u00a0into the south eastern states.\u00c2\u00a0 A month of paddling was\u00c2\u00a0in front of us!\u00c2\u00a0 Ouf! what relief after a\u00c2\u00a0long and cold\u00c2\u00a0winter.

After that month long warm up, it was time for Quebec’s creeks.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Some friends and I\u00c2\u00a0organised a creek race on the basse cach\u00c3\u00a9<\/em> river in the Jacques Cartier Parc ( half an hour north of Qu\u00c3\u00a9bec City).\u00c2\u00a0 RedBull sponsored the event.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a small but very intense race.\u00c2\u00a0 The aim of the game was to get the quickest time from top to bottom in teams of 2.\u00c2\u00a0 Each team was responsible for their own safety.\u00c2\u00a0 Teams were sent one at a time at a 5 minute intervals.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

The race took place in May and the water was high.\u00c2\u00a0 Out of the 7 teams that raced there were : 2 swimmers, 2 broken paddles, 1 opened eye brow (mrs Gragtmans!), 2 broken boats and plenty of stories.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Results : 1 st place Tyler Curtis and Steve Fisher, 2nd place David Laroche and David \u00c3\u2030mond, 3d place, Chris Gragtmans and Max Kniewasser.<\/p>\n

The other teams were: Shanon Caroll and Vincent Dupont, Alain St-Arnaud and Gilles Arsenault, Dominic Fournier and Dominic Chaput, Vincent Ratt\u00c3\u00a9 and Dominic Lavall\u00c3\u00a9e.<\/p>\n

If all goes well, the Quebec Creek Cup (that’s the name of the race!) will take place next May.\u00c2\u00a0 Stay tuned for more info!<\/p>\n

After the racing and the creeking came the playboating.\u00c2\u00a0 Having moved in Verdun (in Montr\u00c3\u00a9al) the Lachines were now my backyard.\u00c2\u00a0 mmmmm!\u00c2\u00a0 Here are a few picks of a great summer with plenty of water and sun!<\/p>\n
