{"id":22333,"date":"2021-09-01T12:54:46","date_gmt":"2021-09-01T11:54:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pyranha.com\/blog\/?p=22333"},"modified":"2021-09-01T12:57:25","modified_gmt":"2021-09-01T11:57:25","slug":"product-issue-notification-drain-bung-leakage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pyranha.com\/blog\/product-issue-notification-drain-bung-leakage\/","title":{"rendered":"Product Issue Notification: Drain Bung Leakage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We\u2019ve been made aware of a number of Pyranha Kayaks produced since January 2021 which have insufficient sealant around the drain bung collar, leading to a noticeable ingress of water into the kayak.<br><br>If you suspect your kayak may be affected, the simplest solution is to remove the drain bung collar by removing the two, self-tapping screws on either side, twisting the collar clockwise, and then pulling upwards to remove it completely.<br><br>Clean any existing sealant from the collar and surface of the kayak using your fingernail or carefully with a sharp knife, and re-apply a generous amount of clear, silicone sealant or similar under the collar flange, before placing the drain bung collar back into the boat and securing it in place with the self-tapping screws.<br><br>Use a gloved finger or a damp cloth to clean any excess sealant from around the collar flange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pyranha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/drain_bung_fix_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pyranha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/drain_bung_fix_web.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.pyranha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/drain_bung_fix_web-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pyranha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/drain_bung_fix_web-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy paddling!<br>Pyranha<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve been made aware of a number of Pyranha Kayaks produced since January 2021 which have insufficient sealant around the drain bung collar, leading to a noticeable ingress of water into the kayak.
