Team Pyranha’s Beth Morgan has taken Europe by storm in the 9R II this summer…<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only did Beth win the AWP European Championship Race this year, but she also smashed the competition in the King of the Alps Mass Start Marathon, before competing (and placing second) in the first-ever women’s race on the finals course, at the highest water level KOTA has ever seen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We managed to drag Beth away from kayaking long enough to ask her a few questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. How does it feel to be European Champion?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A.<\/strong> It’s a bit surreal, to be honest. We couldn’t see the times at the bottom of the course so I had no idea about the results. I made a small mistake in the final so wasn’t sure I was in with a chance. The first I knew of it was on the walk back up; Joe pointed a camera in my face and asked me how it felt to be European champion. I replied with “you’re kidding right?”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still buzzing from my #valsesiariverfestival times. I put everything I had into the Alpine Sprint race, finishing in 11min16, which was fast enough to qualify me for the men’s final. . I had never paddled the finals course before and the steep, technical rapids made me pretty nervous. I went for the slow is smooth technique and was stoked to put down a time of 1min24 – top female and 10th fastest time overall! .
