BIO: Living in Vancouver, Maxi is lucky to be near the mountains he loves. Be it by boat or on skis, Maxi tries to explore his backyard whenever he gets a chance. He has ventured further too, from exploring Norway's fjords to the giants of the Himalaya to the wild rivers of Africa.
His favourite place remains the North. In 2010 together with Ric Moxon, Maxi completed whitewater's vaunted Triple Crown paddling the Alsek, Susitna, and Stikine Rivers in a single push.
In 2012, Maxi organized the Waddington/Homathko ski and kayak expedition. Joined by American Chris Tretwold and Frenchman Jules Domine, the three paddled down the mighty Homathko River to gain access to remote Mt. Waddington, BC's highest peak. The trio climbed the NW peak of the mountain, skied back down, skied back to the kayaks and paddled out to the ocean. It took them 17 days.
Maxi is also an avid photographer, bringing his Nikon wherever he goes. When not exploring rivers and mountains around the world, you will find him doing research for his Masters in Energy Economics.
Current Missions: Having just completed a big trip, Maxi is planning on recovering and paddling locally. He will train for the Callaghan Race this coming July and hopes to keep up with the young Whistler crew this summer. Maxi is already planning many more cool missions - he is always thinking of new and creative ways to explore. Currently he is interested in doing more multi-sport and long wilderness adventures. Stay tuned!
Boats: L-Burn, because it's the best boat for when it gets steep and pushy, and Everest when the water gets even bigger and the trips even longer.
